Mountain Equipment Co-op

For the past two years MEC and RW have joined forces to inspire and motivate youth using Rod's Mississippi River presentations in schools around the Greater Vancouver area.

Utilizing MEC-donated gear, river stories, and a slideshow, Rod, and fellow adventurer Scott McFarlane, have created an interactive, hands-on program that brings the outdoor adventure into the classroom setting.

MEC and RW continue their partnership with the 2003-2004 Australia project. This time around, MEC has donated specific cycling gear and accessories. MEC will also play a key role in promoting the filmed documentary by hosting an in-store appearance by RW at the Vancouver store. Rod will also be participating in an MEC-sponsored video and slideshow presentation at the Anza Club in Vancouver in October 2004

Many thanks to Brent Palmer and the staff at MEC for their involvement in The Melted Helmet Tour '03-'04. www.mec.ca

        M7Action

Riverton, Wyoming-based Brunton, long known for their high quality compasses, was eager to have their new Solar Roll 14 solar panel showcased during RW's Melted Helmet Tour.

The ultra-portable Solar Roll 14 will provide the charging power to keep those lithium DVCAM batteries topped up and running.

Brunton also provided the very cool BattPack, a versatile, solar-friendly battery charger which doubles as an optional power source.

Also featured among the gear that RW is using on this trip is the award-winning Brunton Nova Multi-Fuel Expedition Stove. Usable anywhere in the world, this stove burns everything from rapeseed fuel to jet fuel. Over the next four months it'll be bush tucker on the Brunton, mate!

BOB Trailers Inc.

For years, BOB's YAK trailer has been the reliable bicycle of choice for thousands of satisfied cycling customers.

With the increase of off-road mountain bike touring BOB has provided the adventure cyclist with a mono-suspension trailer: the IBEX. The advent of the IBEX has widened BOB's customer base and has opened new windows of opportunity to explore the great outdoors.

When RW came up with the idea of using a solar panel as a power source to charge his camcorder batteries, he realized that the BOB IBEX would provide the mobile base on which to mount the Brunton Solar Roll 14. Click here to view trailer.

Many thanks to BOB Trailers Inc. for their generous discount on the purchase of the IBEX.
When the best was needed, Rod chose BOB.
